Our Story

We never set out to start a bakery. We simply loved making bread.

It started in our kitchen, baking sourdough for family. There was something special about the process from the very beginning, mixing the dough, patiently waiting for it to rise, shaping each loaf by hand, and waking up to the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven. Sourdough taught us to slow down, appreciate the process, and enjoy creating something meant to be shared.

Before long, we started sharing our bread with friends, family, and neighbors. Seeing someone smile when handed a fresh loaf brought us so much joy. Then people started asking when we were baking again or if they could get another loaf. Somewhere along the way, this little hobby became something more.

That’s how Chip’s Sourdough began.

Chip is our rescued sulcata tortoise and a very special part of our family. His shell was damaged before he came to us, leaving him with a little “chip” that makes him instantly recognizable. We named him after Chip, the little teacup from Beauty and the Beast. He may look a little different, but that’s exactly what makes him special.

When it came time to name the bakery, Chip just felt right.

Today, our bread is still made the same way it was when we started—at home, in small batches, with simple ingredients, lots of patience, and a whole lot of love. Every loaf is shaped by hand, and every loaf is something we’re proud to share.

We never imagined that baking bread in our kitchen would grow into a little bakery of our own. We’re incredibly grateful for every person who orders a loaf, tells a friend about us, or simply stops by to say hello.

Chip’s Sourdough is still small, still homemade, and still deeply personal to our family. We hope that when you bring one of our loaves home, you can taste the care that went into making it.

From our kitchen to your table, thank you for being part of our story.
